Psimer A641.5.3.RB - ICT at the Team Level

Psimer A641.5.3.RB - ICT at the Team Level Olympic US Women’s Soccer team The Olympic US Women’s Soccer team was formed in 1985 and the players earned no salary, only $10.00 in meal money (Royer, 2019).   Since the inception of the team, the players were poorly regarded which is probably one of the major reasons the evolution of the women’s soccer program is a great case study for Intentional Change Theory.   Intentional Change Theory hinges on identity, self-reflection and self-actualization which is ultimately for the greater good. In the case of women’s Olympic team, playing soccer was more than just about the sport.   The women’s team has been influential in many socioeconomic and societal transformations including pay discrimination.   Before the 1996 Olympics, the team shunned the Olympic training camp. The team and soccer federation did come to an agreement, leading to a second gold medal; however as cited by ( Elting , 2022), “Julie Foudy called up ...

A641.4.3.RB - Tipping Points of Emotional Intelligence_Psimer_Andrea

A641.4.3.RB - Tipping Points of Emotional Intelligence_Psimer_Andrea “Good is the enemy of great” ~Jim Collins What was the situation? My primary instance of experiencing a tipping point at work was in 2023 when I was in a high state of burnout.   I was the Commanding Officer of Military Personnel with a significant amount of responsibility and authority.   I have described many emotional effects of leadership from this tour throughout the three modules.   I describe the tipping point as a cumulation of stress, burnout, feeling unsatisfied, among other emotionally intense sensations.   What did you do? The tipping point resulted in me requesting to leave the Coast Guard for up to three years.   I requested to leave as a protective measure for myself to hopefully find happiness and peace again.   In deciding if I would request to leave, I researched graduate schools for myself, elementary schools for my son.   I considered for us to mov...

A641.3.3.RB - Emotional Intelligence: Getting Results!_Psimer_Andrea

A641.3.3.RB - Emotional Intelligence: Getting Results!_Psimer_Andrea Self-awareness I recently learned self-awareness skills out of a necessity for survival. This will be an area of lifelong learning and continuous refining.   From a career point of view, I was thrust into the deep end of self-awareness at my last job, after I became completely consumed by the work and other people’s problems.   I lost not only self-awareness but awareness of everything.   As Goleman (2007), states in the Ted Talk Why aren't we more compassionate? people become blind sided by blind spots.   People’s “simple act of noticing” (Goleman, 2007), is a researched justification as to why humans are losing the ability to be benevolent.   For me, it took years of therapy and a wide variety of specialists to help me re-gain inward focus.   I was putting all of my emotions on other people, specifically blaming them for the way they made me feel and also took out unfitting emotio...

A641 2 3 RB Am I a Resonant Leader_Psimer_Andrea

A641 2 3 RB Am I a Resonant Leader_Psimer_Andrea Am I inspirational?  How do I inspire people?             I am absolutely inspirational!  Last year, I committed to enrolling in graduate school.  What seemed to be an impossible task due to being a single parent, working full-time among a thousand other adult responsibilities.  I set a goal to complete the two-year Master’s program in 10-months.  As a result of my enthusiasm and drive, two of my co-workers enrolled in college classes.  One of my co-workers (Pat) followed suit and registered for two classes per term.  He said to me: “you inspired me, and if you can do it, so can I.”  I shared all of my resources with them including tuition assistance reimbursements and the military’s supplemental education grant which reimburses school expenses up to $1,000.00 per year.           ...

A641.1.3.RB - What is Great Leadership? Psimer_Andrea

Potential             The notable leader who brought out the best in me was a newspaper editor I worked with as a photojournalist intern during college.  This leader saw I had potential and opened several doors for me to pursue opportunities not typical of a novice photojournalist.  Particularly, this leader helped me  not only gain real-world experience, but also worked my university to vouch for earned course credit, which was huge as I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Communications.   Creating Dreams             The most powerful impact was creating a dream I could not have even imagined.   Within a year, I was a freelance photojournalist for The New York Times, Washington Post and Associated Press.   Never did I purposely work towards those achievements.   The editor saw I had an enormous amount of energy and drove me a direction with ...
